He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Houghtaling and Hazel Houghtaling; and his siblings, Ray, Mary Jane, Jean Cope and Barbara Fanning.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Maland; his daughters, Mary Houghtaling of Creston, Debra Houghtaling of Greenfield and Amy Johnson (Versile) of Texas; his grandson Vinh Nguyen; and his sister Marilyn Carroll. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to Parkinson's Research or to the Iowa 4-H Foundation.
