Donald Dean Friar Obituary
We are sad to announce that on May 28, 2025, at the age of 98, Donald Dean Friar of Grimes, Iowa passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Friar and Gladys Thorpe Friar; and his siblings, Marjorie Young and Thorpe Friar. He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou; his children, Kathy Sandberg (Craig) of Overland Park, KS, Jean Boller (Tim) of Cedar Falls, IA and Alan Friar (Leslee Bright) of Baltimore, MD; his grandchildren, Nicholas Sandberg, Haley Sandberg and Michael Boller; and his niece Janel (Rich DeJoode). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Grimes (410 SE 3rd St, Grimes, IA 50111). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at the Sunny Hill Cemetery (420 SE 6th St, Grimes, IA 50111).
In lieu of flowers, we suggest a donation to First Presbyterian Church of Grimes.
