He is survived by: his daughter Angela; his friend Rich McVinue; his pet Joey; his children, Angie Wilderman of Dallas Center and Kurt Slothouber (Kelli) of Highlands Ranch, CO; his stepchildren, Terri Hier (Brad) of Baxter, Doug Johnston (Mindy) of Montezuma and Sherri Johnston (Rick Caruthers) of Newton; his sister Jean Hoffman of Des Moines, WA; and his grandchildren, Michael Billings (Leslie), Lance Johnston (Abi), Chantelle Nielsen (Kody), Lex Johnston (Charyl), Spencer Johnston, Logan Johnston (Tiffany), Arik Hier, Blake Hier, Brianna Wilderman, Jordan Rekemeyer, Hope Holschlag (Derek), Jordan Slothouber and Taylor Slothouber.
Memorials may be made to Suncrest Hospice (Des Moines) and sent by mail, brought to the service, or sent to Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton.
