With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Phillip Eugene Wertz of Grinnell, Iowa, who passed away on September 26, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Mitchell and Bertha Mitchell; his stepmother Esther Wertz; his wife Judy Wertz; his son-in-law Don Lender; and his siblings-in-law, Donald (Mary Sumpter) and Donna Nevitt.
He is survived by: his daughter Kim Lender of Grinnell; his grandson Dalton Lender (Danielle) of Grinnell; his great grandchildren, Falen Torres and Warren Lender; and his siblings-in-law, Vicky Langford of Brooklyn, IA and Ron Sumpter of Chicago.
If desired, memorial contributions may be designated to Phil's daughter Kim Lender for future benefit to the Grinnell Newburg School District.
