He was predeceased by : his parents, Claude Smith and Dorothy Smith (Mauderly). He is survived by : his wife Julie Monroe; his sons, Tyler Smith (Fiona) of Urbandale, Travis Smith (Sam) of Grinnell and Troy Smith (Catherine Pearce) of Chicago, Illinois; his grandchildren, Finn, Mira of Urbandale, Theo, Nigel and Duncan of Grinnell; and his siblings, Lori Van Wyk (Mike) of Denver, Colorado and Claude Smith (Christie) of Custer.
