With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Tom Simpson of Grinnell, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 7, 2025 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact Tom had on those he encountered along his journey. Though Tom may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, his essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Simpson and Lena Simpson (Wortman); and his siblings, James Simpson (Donna) and Barb Schmidt (Joe). He is survived by: his wife Darla Simpson of Grinnell; his daughter Kristin Van Wyk (Darren) of Grinnell; his grandchildren, Kinnick, Kyndall and Kynslee Van Wyk; and his brothers-in-law, Jim Pefferman (Joy) of Edmond, OK, Tim Pefferman (Deb) of Grinnell, IA and Tom Pefferman (Patty) of Boonville, MO.. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Smith Funeral Home - Grinnell (1103 Broad St, Grinnell, IA 50112).
