With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Vernon Van Wyk of Grinnell, Iowa, who passed away on May 14, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilburn Halsey Van Wyk and Frances Vivian Van Wyk (Kooistra); his son Vernon Wesley "Wes" Van Wyk II; his grandson Kyle Wesley Moore; and his sisters, Lois Draayer and Barbara Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Loretta Van Wyk of Grinnell; his daughter Nancy Van Genderen (Dennis) of Sully; his grandchildren, Travis Van Genderen (Melissa) and Lia Von Busch (Scott); his son Mark Van Wyk (Liz) of Urbandale, IA; his grandchildren, SaraBeth Soetmelk (Zaz) and Dallas Van Wyk; his son Curt Van Wyk of Hinton, IA; his grandchildren, Holly Choquette, Carrie Sitz (Andrew), Joel Van Wyk (Kelsey) and Janey Beaubien (Danny); his daughter Ruth Van Soelen (Jim) of Sully; his granddaughters, Maria Bogaards (Johnnie) and Amber Van Ryswyk (Shawn); his daughter Marcy Haddrell (Jason) of Grinnell; his granddaughters, Samantha Goodrich (Ben), Jessica Johnson (Jake) and Danielle Leshen (Bryce); and his siblings, Louise Walling (Jim) of Austin, TX and Bruce Van Wyk (Marg) of Colorado Springs, CO. He is also survived by 25 great-grandchildren with one more on the way; 3 step-great-grandchildren.
