We announce the death of Donna Lee Laverty of Griswold, Iowa, who passed away on September 17, 2026, at the age of 91. Donna will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ione Perdue (Palmer) and Ora Perdue; her husbands, Dean Merritt and Carl Laverty; her siblings, Ora Lee Perdue, Willard Perdue, Orlen Perdue, Kim Perdue and Rose Boseck; and her son-in-law Byron Jones.
She is survived by: her children, Renee Jones of Atlantic, Sherri Merritt of Bandon and Kevin Merritt (Laura) of Orchard Mesa; her grandchildren, Tressa Hackwell (Jeff) of Atlantic, Shauna Casey (Bryce) of Atlantic and Joshua Merritt of Orchard Mesa; her great grandchildren, Michael Hotze (Harley) of Adair and Lilly Casey of Atlantic; and her siblings, Toni Bruce of Missouri and Platt Perdue (Donna) of Griswold. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Book Hotel Griswold Cemetery. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Book Hotel Church of Christ (51 Harrison St, Griswold, IA 51535).
