Kuempel (Jack) and Hildegarde Mary Kuempel (Lake); his parents-in-law, Herbert and Lillian Borcherding; his siblings, Robert (Glee), James Kuempel (Lou), Sister Clara Mae Kuempel and Bernyce Elsinger (Cyrenus); his brothers-in-law, Albert Dunn and Norb Borcherding; his nieces and nephews, Paula Dunn, Susan Kuempel, Timothy Kuempel and Michael Borcherding; and his pet Shadow.
He is survived by: his wife Helene Borcherding (Church); his sister Kathleen Dunn of Bedford, Texas; his children, Diane Wagner (Steve) of Elkader, Paul Kuempel (Erica) of Cedar Falls, Marc Kuempel (Jillean Harmon) of Guttenberg and Marcia Kuempel of Garnavillo; his granddaughters, Lillian (Alex Bridges), Caroline and Anna Brondyke; his children, Sydney (Christopher Doubek), Spencer Kuempel, Kade, Kai Kuempel and Kenna Strohman; his great grandchild Cameron Alan Doubek; his grandchildren, Jacob (Meg), Kyle (Jamie), Joe Wagner and Ryleigh Harmon; his siblings-in-law, Milt Borcherding (Ann) and Donna Borcherding; his pet Flossie; and his nephew Dan. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorials may be given in Tom's name to St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Guttenberg Hospital, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
