She is survived by : her husband Norman Schmitz of Westphalia, IA; her children, Debbie Davis (David) of Harlan, IA, Dawn Lapke (Leo) of Dunlap, IA, Dean Schmitz (Courtnay) of Des Moines, IA, Dale Schmitz (Heidi Brown) of Council Bluffs, IA, Denise Stephany (Wil) of Omaha, NE and Dana Schiltz (Danny) of Omaha, NE; her siblings, Dave Coenen (Karen) of Council Bluffs, IA, Vicki Schmitz (Larry) of Westphalia, IA and Twyla Grooms of Columbus, OH; and her sister-in-law Carol Coenen of Omaha, NE. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 2nd 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the St. Boniface Catholic Church (403 Duren St, Westphalia, IA 51578). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, May 3rd 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
