With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Jane Petersen (Harlan, Iowa), who passed away on February 28, 2026 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Thompson and Elvera Thompson (Clausen) of Ute; her husband Don Petersen of Dow City; and her siblings, Maurice and Christine.
She is survived by: her children, Denise Gubbels (Phil) of Harlan, David Petersen (Linda) of Harlan and DeaAnn Bissen (Roger) of Harlan; her grandchildren, Dan Petersen (Jess), Ryan Petersen (Katie), David Gubbels (Terra), Dennis Gubbels (Laura), Brittany Draeger (Matt) and Hanna Leiting (Mark); her sister Arlynn Gittins of Harlan; and her sister-in-law Audrey Lambert of Sioux City. She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
