He was predeceased by: his parents, Lemuel Forbes and Mary Forbes (Abeln); his son John Forbes, Jr.; and his siblings, Willard "Bill", Peryl, David and Arlene Sturch.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Forbes of Harpers Ferry; his sons, Mark Forbes (Bridget) of Postville and Mike Forbes of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and his daughter-in-law Sarah Monson of Ft. Atkinson. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Martin-Grau Funeral Home (202 Allamakee St NW, Waukon, IA 52172).
