He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Nelsen and Pearl Nelsen (Cunningham); his wife Myrna Nelsen; his daughter Rhonda Nelsen; and his brother Norman Nelsen.
He is survived by: his sons, Steve Nelsen (Kerry) of Kansas City and Dan Nelsen (Lynette) of Walnut; his grandchildren, Joshua Bramman, Dustin Nelsen (Lesley), Dakota Nelsen (Felicia), Dane Nelsen (Beth), Michael Nelsen (Tiffany), Meghan Milbourn (Keith), Carrissa Holloway, Sidney Rupnow (Will) and Kyley Henningsen (Joel); his great grandchildren, Harvey, Henry, Harrison, Bo, Jaci, Jorja, Ryker, Rowan, Jones, Wrenley, Blakely, Eli and Owen; and his sister Darlene Arnold of Bluffton, Ohio.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM and at 11:00 AM at the United Lutheran Church (601 Summit St, Shelby, IA 51570).
