He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Kruse and Ida Kruse (Holtkamp); his wife Thelma Stukerjurgen; and his siblings, Lawrence, Wilfred, Albert, Joe, Gertrude, Helen, Cecilia, Marcella, Clotilda and Edna.
He is survived by: his children, Edward Kruse (Patty) of Hillsboro, LeAnn Lund (Ben) of Johnston, LouAnn Nichting (Gary) of Mount Pleasant and JoAnn Adam (Joe) of Fairfield, Iowa; his grandchildren, Jason Nichting (Tina), Lisa Syfert (Jerad), Christy Schwartz (Russ), Cherie Brown (Chris), Melissa Herbaugh (Jason), Rebecca Westercamp (Doug), Janette Kruse (Brian Callaway), Amy Mullenix (Jeremy), Andrew Kruse, Trevor Lund (Emily) and Stephanie Wilkinson (Austin); and his sister Agnes Stukerjurgen. He is also survived by thirty one great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren.
A memorial has been established in his memory for St. John's Catholic Church or St. John's Cemetery.
