Donald R. Schmitt Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Donald R. Schmitt of Holy Cross, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 21, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles "Chas" Schmitt and Bertha Schmitt (Meyer); his wife Janet Decker of Balltown; his parents-in-law, Lawrence and Loretta Decker (Hefel); his sister LaVonne; and his in-laws, Joan, Les Feldmann and Steve Koch.
He is survived by: his children, Jeff Schmitt (Linda) of Holy Cross, Dave Schmitt (Wendy) of Omaha, NE and Lisa Bowen (Dan) of Kansas City, KS; his grandchildren, Michael Schmitt (Hali), Katelyn Schmitt, John Schmitt, Matt Schmitt (Libby), Danny Bowen, Nicole Schmitt, Nicholas Bowen and Adam Schmitt; his great grandchildren, Harrison Schmitt and Wyatt Schmitt; and his in-laws, John Decker, Larry Decker (Trudy), Kathy Koch and Ann Baumann (Andy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to LaSalle School or Holy Cross Parish in Holy Cross, Iowa.
