He was predeceased by: his siblings, Bonnie Tapken, James (LaQuita) and Ronnie Avery; his in-laws, Leo, Luella Sternhagen, Mary Lou Turnis Schilling, Adrian Turnis, Francis Schilling, Judy Sternhagen, Roy Shelton and Wayne Davis; and his father Lewis (Ace).
He is survived by: his siblings, Patricia Avery and John Avery (Tammy); his brother-in-law Don Tapken (Phyllis); his in-laws, Linda Shelton, Jeanette Davis (Howard Chapman), Bill Sternhagen (LaVonne), Duane Sternhagen, Carl Sternhagen (Betty) and Rosie Topping (Donny); his pets, Harley and Honda; and his wife Anne Sternhagen.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 27th 2025 at 9:00 AM at the Hopkinton Community Church (107 3rd St, Hopkinton, IA 52237). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 27th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
