Lucia Vander Ploeg Obituary

We announce the death of Lucia Vander Ploeg of Hospers, Iowa, who passed away on September 22, 2026, at the age of 98. She was predeceased by: her husband Chasper Vander Ploeg; her daughter Terry Randazzo; her son-in-law Bob Hayes; her siblings, Allie (Myron Korver), Jenieva (Peter Kastein), John Vander Maten, Hans Vander Maten (Millie), Gert (Bill Huisman), Bill Vander Maten (Ann), Harriet (Wilbur Harmelink) and Minie (Gene Beernink); her sister-in-law Marilyn Vander Maten; Thelma (Pete Pott), Henrietta (Ray Bulthuis), Henry Vander Ploeg (Gertie) and Robert Vander Ploeg (Henrietta).

She is survived by: her children, Pat (John Stewart) of Athens, Alabama, Charlene Hayes of Hospers, Irene (Bruce Kallis) of Bismarck, Kathy (Dan Patterson) of Marion, Rachel Kvigne of Rock Valley, Virginia (Greg Bradley) of Holt, Missouri, Will (Diane Vander Ploeg) and John (Rachel Vander Ploeg); her son-in-law Frank Randazzo of Metairie, Louisiana; and her siblings, Kaye (Herb Kuyper) of Sioux Center and Hermie Vander Maten of Surprise, Arizona. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Trinity Reformed Church (501 Main St, Hospers, IA 51238). A memorial service was held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
