He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Steffensmeier and Rose Steffensmeier (Umthum); and his daughter Pam. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Denning; his children, Penny Walter (Larry) of Shawnee, Rus Steffensmeier (Bev) of Houghton, Rhonda Peseau of Arlington and Ritch Steffensmeier of Overland Park, Kansas; and his grandchildren, Kurt Steffensmeier (Hallie), Bobbi Kruse (Ryan), Karla Williams (Lynn), Austin Walter (Tiffany), Russell Walter, Allison Walter, Hannah Glazunoy (Ilya), Will Peseau, Jade Johnson (Daniel), Halle Steffensmeier and Breck Steffensmeier. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. John's Catholic Church (105 Main St, Donnellson, IA 52631).
A memorial has been established in his memory.
