John M. Hoksbergen Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John M. Hoksbergen of Hull, Iowa, who passed away on October 5, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hoksbergen and Henrietta Hoksbergen (Te Slaa); his granddaughter Shelby Hoksbergen; his great grandchild Asher Katz; his brother Marvin John Hoksbergen; his siblings-in-law, Bill Jansma, Bonnie Hoksbergen, Wilmyna (Tunis Jansma) and Arta; Ben, Alberta Bleyenberg, John Haverhals and Elmer Bonnema.

He is survived by: his wife Delores "Lori" Bleyenberg of Sioux Center; his children, Ronald Hoksbergen (Deborah) of Hull, Jeralyn (Gary Westra) of Hull, Dennis Hoksbergen (Michelle) of Sheldon and Jacelyn Vande Griend of Hull; his grandchildren, Julie Stordahl (Mark), Jonathan Hoksbergen, Emily Lonie (Jared), Douglas Hoksbergen (Alicia), Jeffrey Westra (Nicole), Glenda Krikke (Josh), Steven Westra (Tonia), Brett Westra (Britney), Kyle Westra, Janelle Katz (Kelly), Anna Van Den (Derek), Cody Hoksbergen (Trisha), Erin Van Voorst (Kelly), Amber Sneller (Joel), Ross Hoksbergen (Josie), Joel Vande Griend (Sara) and Jocelyn Vande Griend (Devin Gores); his siblings, Harriet Jansma of Rock Rapids, Henry (Jane Hoksbergen), Donald (Wilma Hoksbergen) and Kenneth (Doris Hoksbergen); and his siblings-in-law, Bernice (Peter Rynders) of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Alvin (Betty Bleyenberg) of Sioux Center. He is also survived by 52 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Calvary Protestant Reformed Church (2011 2nd St, Hull, IA 51239). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.

Memorials will be given to the Hull Protestant Reformed Christian School and Trinity Christian High School in Hull.
