He was predeceased by: his parents, Merle Leon Simmons and Ruth Lydia Simmons (Schuman). He is survived by: his wife Louella Simmons of Independence, Iowa; his children, Jeff Simmons (RoseMary) of San Antonio, Greg Simmons (Nina) of Quasqueton, Iowa and Jenny Shonka (Eric) of Omaha, Nebraska.; and his grandchildren, Christina Simmons, Elissa Simmons, Alissa Spidell (Jedd), Jacob Lewis, Logan Shonka and Isabelle Shonka.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to the Buchanan County Wildlife Association.
