He was predeceased by: his parents, Neal D. Benton and Hazel Benton (Gienapp); his wife Mary Benton; and his sister Mary Gleiter. He is survived by: his children, Steven Benton of Oelwein, Iowa, Nikki Farrenkopf (Johnathan Hocken) of Independence, Iowa and Duane Benton (Brandi) of Dubuque, Iowa; his grandchildren, Aleaha, Kaelyn and Jordan Farrenkopf; and his children, Hadley Hocken and Hayden Benton.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home (216 3rd Ave SE, Independence, IA 50644).
