He was predeceased by : his parents, Irvin Nicholas Ehr and Marie Ann Ehr (Staebell); his daughter Brenda Ehr-Jackson; his son-in-law Will Jackson; his brothers, Donald Ehr, Ronald Ehr and Francis Ehr; and his siblings-in-law, Bernard Chaudoir and Mary Jean Ehr.

He is survived by : his former life partner Patricia Ann "Pat" Schares; his wife Patricia Ehr of Independence; his children, Deborah Ehr of Norwalk, IA, Teresa Cox (Phil) of Polk City, IA, Paula Beckel (Andy) of Lakeville, MN, Diane Ehr (Jared Culbertson) of Litchfield, MN, Steven Ehr (Debbie) of Dunkerton, Robert Ehr (Andrea Mead) of Waterloo, IA and John Ehr (Danielle) of Oklahoma City, OK; his sisters, Mary Vogel (Richard) of Independence and Marlene Chaudoir of Oro Valley, AZ; and his sister-in-law Jeanene Ehr of Jesup. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren.

Memorials will be directed to St. John Catholic Church and the American Lung Association.
