Joan McCalley Obituary
We announce the death of Joan McCalley (Independence, Iowa), who passed away on June 29, 2026, at the age of 90. Joan will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Alvie C. Schmitt and Marguerite Schmitt (Hudkins); her siblings, Rita (Clarence Michael), Eunice (Elmer Corcoran), Kathleen (Donald Roberts), Richard (Marguerite), Donald (Marra) and Mike (Judy Schmitt); and her brother-in-law Chuck Devens.
She is survived by: her children, Kevin (Melanie McCalley), Staci (Jeff Holden) and Chris (Maria McCalley); her grandchildren, Julie Volesky, Halli Wright, Sam Holden, Mollie Campbell, Dr. Alayna Woods and Dr. Emily McCalley; and her sister Janice Devens of Dubuque. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
