With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John W. Brackett Jr. of Independence, Iowa, born in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 30, 2025. He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Margaret Johnson Brackett and Charles Brackett; his parents, John Walter Brackett, Sr. and Mary Jo Givens; his stepmother Betty Moore; his mother-in-law Sue Young; and his half-sister Samantha Hawkins Mullins.
He is survived by: his wife Judith Ann Freeman; his sons, Tim Brackett (Kari) of Minneapolis and Jeff Brackett (Des) of Oelwein, Iowa; his granddaughter Josephine; his siblings, Karen, Joy, Tom and Mike; his uncle Henry; and his aunts, Frankie and Patsy (John).
Memorials may be directed to the church and to the family to be shared with organizations important to John.
