Marie A. Vanous Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Marie A. Vanous of Independence, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 10, 2026 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George Sebetka and Mary Sebetka (Marousek); her husband Edward Wencil Vanous; her siblings, Lucille Brown and Robert Sebetka; her children, Karen Vanous and John (Cheryl Vanous); and her children-in-law, Penny Vanous and Fred Kitzman.
She is survived by: her children, Carol Kitzman of Swisher, Iowa, Don Vanous (Julie) of Rowley and Brian Vanous (Anita) of Quasqueton, Iowa; and her sister-in-law JoAnn Sebetka. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be directed to the Czech National Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
