He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Willard Smedley and Augusta Marie Smedley (Schrage); and his sisters, RoseAnn Bach and Shirley White. He is survived by: his wife Esther Smedley of Independence; his children, Robin Grover (James) of Rowley, Rachelle "Shelly" Quinn (John) of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Rodney Smedley (Toni) of Independence, William Skubal (Lisa) of Jesup, IA, Alesia Buckman (Shawn) of Woodward, IA, Nicole Ryan (Rob), Shanna Skubal of Camanche, IA and Christian Skubal of Independence; and his brother LaVern Smedley (Theresa) of Cedar Rapids, IA.. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, August 8th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the White Funeral Home (400 1st St W, Independence, IA 50644). A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Evangelistic Center (700 13th St NE, Independence, IA 50644).
