It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Vernon Richard Cornwell of Independence, Iowa, who passed away on May 18, 2025, at the age of 60, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Bill H. Cornwell and Joyce Cornwell (Stocks); and his brother Mark Cornwell. He is survived by: his wife Linda Cornwell of Independence, IA; his children, Jamie Ackerman (Daniel) of Cedar Falls, IA and Rusty Cornwell (Madison) of Rowley, IA; his grandchildren, Zachary, Genevieve, Eloise, Isabelle Ackerman, Hunter Sherwood, Jaxson Cornwell and Harlan Miller; and his siblings, Dawn Ragsdale (Stacy) of Clarksville, IA and Mike Cornwell of Independence, IA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 21st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Reiff Family Center - Independence (216 3rd Ave SE, Independence, IA 50644). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 22nd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
