Denice Groomes Obituary

We announce the death of Denice Groomes of Indianola, Iowa, who passed away on August 12, 2026, at the age of 75. Denice will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Glen J. Groomes and Joanne Groomes (Janes); her significant other Rod Renfeldt; her brothers, Steve, Kevin and Brent Groomes; and her grandparents, Glen F, Helen Groomes (Jordan), Theodore and Francis Janes (Wiese).

She is survived by: her son Doug "D. J." Bylund (Kara) of Indianola; her grandsons, Joey Bylund (Allison) of Scottsdale, Arizona and Alex Bylund of Indianola; her aunts, Nancy McLean of Ames and Judy Bishop (Richard) of Indianola; her uncle Ron Janes of Collins; and her sister-in-law Sandi Groomes of St. Clair, Missouri. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Denice can be made for the Iowans for Adoption.
