It is with sadness that the passing of Elizabeth Smith of Indianola, Iowa is shared. Elizabeth, born on November 29, 1957, passed away on October 5, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Elizabeth will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around her. Friends and family will honor Elizabeth by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence she had in their lives. Though Elizabeth is no longer present, the bonds she created and the experiences shared will endure. Elizabeth’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew her.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Walz and Rita Walz. She is survived by: her daughters, Moriah Rieger (Paul) and Maggie Manternach (Josh); her grandchildren, Ada and Otto Rieger; her stepchildren, Aaron Smith (Chris) and Kristi McCall; and her brother William "Bill" Walz (Mary Schlapkohl).
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Overton Funeral Home (501 W Ashland Ave, Indianola, IA 50125).
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
