He was predeceased by: his father Kenneth Sr.; his brother Kenneth Jr.; and his son-in-law Ryan Johnson. He is survived by: his close friend Ozzy; his wife Jo; his children, Fawn Shinn, Michael Vesey (Stephanie), Staci Robuck (Charlie), Traci Ellis (Ryan), Kristen Petty (Aaron) and Carrie Johnson; his grandchildren, Jesse, Taylor, Ross, Whitney, Haley, Quinn, Shaelynn, Kirsten, Kaleb, Tanner, Kenzie, Bailee, Lexi, Jalaine, Elijah and Madi; his mother Linda Vesey; and his siblings, Pat Morgan (Denny), Linda Samson (Karey), Mike Schipper (Heny) and Rich Schipper (Wendy). He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, other nieces, nephews, family, friends and coworkers.

Memorials may be made in his name to Orchard Place, 2116 Grand Avenue Des Moines, Iowa 50312, in support of the work that his daughter Kristen and granddaughter Madi do to provide mental healthcare services for the children of Iowa.
