He was predeceased by: his parents, Aaron Davitt and Margaret Bell Davitt. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Davitt; his sons, Rick Davitt (Terri), Russ Davitt (Brenda) and Ron Davitt; his grandchildren, Ben Davitt (Sarah), Brooke Burk (Andrew), Beth Beeler (Zac), Chelle Morgan (Joe) and Roxi Foreman (Greg); his great grandchildren, Joe, Makena, Gabe, Hayden, Jemma, Jude, Micah, Seth, Jaeda, Ephraim, Madi, Aubree, Will, Grayden and Garrett; and his sisters, Carol Sones and Judy Wilgenbusch.
A rosary was held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the Overton Funeral Home (501 W Ashland Ave, Indianola, IA 50125). Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 at 10:00 AM. A burial was held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 at the Belmont Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Richard, may be given to The Good Shepherd Endowment Fund at The Village, Holy Trinity of SEW in Milo or Wesley Life Hospice.
