He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald Lester and Marjorie Jean Akes (Stark); his brother Stuart Akes; his mother-in-law Cheryl Norman; and his brothers-in-law, Kyle Foreman and Aaron Chamley.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Todd and Kristin; his wife Terri Akes of Indianola, Iowa; his children, Brandon Akes of Des Moines, Todd, Kelli Akes of Spearfish, Kristin and Chad Dale; his grandchildren, Addison Dale and Hugh Akes; his brother Stan Akes (Sandie) of Waukee, Iowa; his sister-in-law Becky Akes of Springfield, Missouri; his father-in-law Don Forman of Leon, Iowa; and also, Corby of Leon, Ronnie Boswell of Leon, Kelly Greenland of Leon, Lance Forman of Leon and Kim Chamley of Stephenville, Texas.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Slade - O'Donnell Funeral Home (103 NE Mill St, Leon, IA 50144).
