He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry DeWit and Frances DeWit (Vanden Bosch); his wife Mona Gerritson; his parents-in-law, Richard and Florence Gerritson; and his siblings, Ruth Halma, Martin DeWit, Lenore Jongerius and John DeWit.

He is survived by: his friends, Leon and Marie; his sons, Brian DeWit (Penny) of Larchwood, Brent DeWit of Sioux Falls and Brad DeWit of Larchwood; his grandchildren, Lora Faber (Mark) of Inwood, Samantha Koedam (Joel) of Lester, Kayla DeWit (Matt Ryan) of Harrisburg and Kyle DeWit of Larchwood; his great grandchildren, Mea, Vanessa, Kamara, Bennett, Max, Jax, Kenzlee, Olivia, Sierra, Brylea and Landri; and his sisters, Gertrude Hibma of Washington, Arlinda Kooiman (Simon) of Hamilton and Ontario.
