He was predeceased by: his parents, Pierre Folkerts and Trina Folkerts (Boersma); and his siblings, Henry, Cornie Folkerts, Nellie Van Tol, Alice Faber, Sadie Faber and Jean Kowalski.

He is survived by: his wife Lois Bobeldyk; his children, Todd Folkerts (Dawn) of Inwood, Iowa and Lisa Diekevers (Kevin) of Sanborn, Iowa.; his grandchildren, Karl Diekevers (Cindy), Jessica Van Grouw (Joshua), Kyle Diekevers, Kali Loewen (Eric), Lindsey Folkerts, Kari Vlastuin (Jason), Brandon Folkerts (Katie) and Jordan Folkerts (Summer); his sister Bess Bolkema (Norm) of Arizona; and his brothers-in-law, Jim Faber of Inwood and Gene Bobeldyk (Wanda) of Michigan. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren.

Roy's family prefers memorials be directed to the Inwood Christian School or Fellowship Village in Inwood.
