He is survived by: his children, Valerie Honohan Ruth (John) of Winfield and Jay H. Honohan III of Iowa City; his grandchild Ensign Ethan C. Ruth; his sister Kay C. Flockhart of Morristown, Tennessee; his nephew Gary Flockhart (Lorraine) of Terryville, Connecticut; his niece Calista Flockhart (Harrison); his great-nephew Liam of Los Angeles, California; his sister-in-law Karolyn Leary of Washington, Iowa; his niece Dr. Kecia Leary (Kyle Vogel) of Iowa City; his great-nephew Ben; his great-niece Michaela; his nephew Col. J. P. Leary (Yeo Sang); his great-niece Evangeline; his nephew Andrew Kaiser of Placetes; and his great-niece Dr. Abby Kaiser of Seattle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Endowment Fund of Friends of the Center in the Community Foundation or Johnson County, Legal Services Corporation of Iowa or Suncrest Hospice.
