With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John A. Bennett (Iowa City, Iowa), born in Elgin, Illinois, who passed away on September 16, 2023 at the age of 76. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur E. Bennett and Doris May Bennett; his parents-in-law, Marcella and Arnold Ortscheid; his siblings-in-law, Mary Kay Ortscheid and Bob Ortscheid; his niece Coral Bustamante; and his close friends, Auggie, Cheyenne and Allie.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Bennett; his pet Gertie; his siblings, Karen Bennett, Paul Bennett (Terri) and Steve Bennett; and his siblings-in-law, Dennis Ortscheid (Kay), Dan Ortscheid (Brenda), Ann Haas (Jim) and Susan Ortscheid. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and godchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please remember John by cheering for the Chicago Bears this season. Memorial contributions may be made in John's Memory to the Iowa City Animal Shelter, Friends of the Animal Center Foundation, and Iowa City Hospice.
