He was predeceased by: his parents, Cyril Gavin and Elissa Gavin (Vifian); and his sister Carol Gavin. He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Gavin; his children, Stephanie (Mike Marchetti), Jeff Gavin of Iowa City, Melissa (Ryan Eckhoff), Jennifer (Dave Boblenz), Patrick (Amanda Gavin) and Michael (Annie Gavin); his grandchildren, Michael (Miriam), Ethan, Joseph, Mia, Neal, Rachel, Roan, Adam, Will, Cora, Becca, Luke, Grace, Jack, Stella, Scarlett, Olive, Danny, Elsie, Betsy and Archie; and his sisters, Roslyn Glynn (Casey) and Suzanne Britt (Bob).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. Patrick Catholic Church (4330 St Patricks Dr, Iowa City, IA 52240). A rosary will be held on Thursday, June 19th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Patrick's Church Iowa City or Loras All Sports Camp.
