He was predeceased by: his parents, Alphonse Schemmel and Rose Schemmel (Spieler); his son Andrew; and his sister Helene Edel (Matt). He is survived by: his wife Ruth; his daughters, Amy Keller (Jeff) and Julie Bach (Jon); his grandchildren, Claire Keller, Jack Keller, Isabelle Bach and Emma Bach; and his brothers, Don Schemmel (Mary Lou), Tom Schemmel (Mary Pat) and Bob Schemmel (Susie). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasantview or UI Health Care Stead Family Children's Hospital.
