He was predeceased by: his mother Betty Sass; his brother David Sass; his son Michael Sass; and his father-in-law Ken Parrott. He is survived by: his wife Jeanette; his son David; his grandsons, Jason Sass and Gavin Lemay; and his sister Debora Sass-Hansen (Steve Sorensen).
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 23rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service (2720 Muscatine Ave, Iowa City, IA 52240).
Memorial donations can be made in his memory to Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center.
