He was predeceased by: his parent A. A. Stein; and his siblings, Bill and Marilyn. He is survived by: his wife Betty; his sons, Dr. Robert Stein, Jr., Dr. David Stein (Kristin) and Steven Stein (Haimei); his grandchildren, Laurel Marsh, Erik Stein, Dr Alec Stein, Dr Shelby Sheeran (Cody), Dane Stein, Anna Stein, Braydon Taylor and Brooklynn Taylor; his sister Ruth; and his sister-in-law Lynn Craft (Walt). He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be directed to the University of Iowa's Women's Swimming Program; a program near and dear to Bob and Betty Stein.
