He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Hoff and Josephine Hoff (Beyer); his sisters, Mary Jo Peterson and Judy Trenshaw; his pet Diamond; and his mother-in-law Peggy Rakel.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Rakel; his children, Laura of Milwaukee and Joseph of New York City; his siblings, John Hoff (Fran) of Nashville and Ginny Wells (John) of Seattle; his father-in-law Robert Rakel of Iowa City; and his brother-in-law Paul Trenshaw of Kansas City. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.
