He is survived by: his grandson Waylan; his daughter Lauren LaRae Whitman; his grandson Wyatt; his siblings, Stephanie Sterk of Ames, Mary Jo Lechene of Holly Springs, Nicole Ward of Iowa Falls, Iowa and Mike Counsell of Ames; and his stepmother Linda Kay Pickering.
