She was predeceased by: her parents, Gerrit Brands and Bertha Brands (Van Zanten); her husband Pete; her siblings, Rena Brands, Gerrit Brands Jr. and Cornie Brands; and her in-laws, Don Westra, John, Gert Statema, Hank, Ann Zomermaand, Art, Geraldine Statema, Clarence, Beulah Statema, Jim, Betty Sikma, Frank, Iola Statema, Otto, Madelyne Huizenga, Bill, Geneva Burggraaf, Julius and Priscilla De Jong.
She is survived by: her children, Linda Renes (David) of Sioux Falls, SD, Jeff Statema (Gina) of LeMars, IA, David Statema of Alton, IA and Lisa Statema of Dakota Dunes, SD; her sister Johanna Westra; and her sisters-in-law, Grace Brands and Barbara Brands. She is also survived by four grand children and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ireton Christian Reformed Church (301 Maple St, Ireton, IA 51027). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be directed to the Ireton Christian School.
