With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Carolyn J. Harken Hackwell of Jesup, Iowa, who passed away on February 5, 2024. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Barclay William Mumm and Gertrude Eva Mumm (Bell); her former life partner Merle "Butch" Harken; her brothers, LeRoy Mumm (Mary) and Ronald Mumm; and her stepchild Kim Hoppock.

She is survived by : her husband Dale Hackwell of Jesup, IA; her daughter Debra Jacobs (David) of Independence, IA; her grandson Nicholas Jacobs (Melanie) of Winthrop; her brother Donald Mumm (Carole) of Independence, IA; her sisters-in-law, Joyce Mumm of Plymouth, MA and Karen Mulnix (Roxie) of Independence, IA; her stepchildren, Sherie Firgard (Doug) of Hudson, IA, Pamela Hackwell of Waterloo, IA and Dale Hackwell, Jr. (Beth) of Washburn; and her stepgrandchild Jimmie Dale Hoppock. She is also survived by step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
