With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Richard Surly of Kalona, Iowa, born in Waterloo, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 8, 2025 at the age of 71. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Surly and Geraldine Surly (Olson); and his brother-in-law Barry Wood. He is survived by: his wife Cindy of Kalona; his children, Katrina Surly (Travis Rotenburger) of Crawfordsville, Adam Surly (Megan) of Plymouth, MN and Mark Surly (Maria) of Tiffin; his grandchildren, Petra, Echo, Zhantel and Zeretta; his sister Rachel Wood of Missouri; his nieces, Heather and Dawn; his brother Roger Surly (Jennifer) of Arkansas; and his nieces and nephews, Taylor, Caleb and Garrett.
A memorial fund has been established for Washington County Hospice.
