He was predeceased by: his parents, Glen James and Margurite Michel (Droll); and his siblings, Calvin, Richard, Clayton Michel, Ann, Gwendolyn White (George), Marilyn Knebel (Hank) and Marlene Eden (Bud).
He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Jacobson (Owens) of Kalona; his children, Stephen Michel of Kalona, Richard Michel (Maureen) of Warrenton, Lisa Michel (Rocky Poindexter) of Lancaster, Seth Michel (Sheila Ritchie) of Kalona and John Michel (Kelly) of Wellman; his stepchildren, Richard Jacobson (Margaret) of Santa Rosa, Michael Jacobson (Kathy) of Hazelton and Marnett Meier-Osweiler (Doug) of South English; Gerald Michel (Joan) of Hills, Iowa.. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home (201 B Ave, Kalona, IA 52247). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Peter's Catholic Church (4022 Cosgrove Rd SW, Oxford, IA 52322).
A memorial fund has been established for Camp Courageous and Hospice Compassus.
