He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin "Babe" Johnson and Janice Johnson (Hall); and his brother Gary Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Linda Johnson of Kanawha; his stepsons, Tim Kenyon of Colorado Springs and Brian Kenyon of Fort Dodge; his stepgrandchildren, Keeley, Keaton and Kolton; his siblings, Sue Hiscocks (Doyce) of Clear Lake, Randy Johnson of Des Moines, Gilbert Johnson (Tish Collins) of Eldora and Mike Johnson (Bonnie) of Kanawha; his stepfather Harold Philp of Keokuk; and his siblings-in-law, Nora Finney and Ron Finney (Vicky). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family and can be designated for Ahlzeimers or Luekemia research.
