He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Knapp and Oda Knapp (Michelsen); his brother Rollin Knapp; his stepmother Gloria Freilinger; his stepbrother George Hansen; and his friend Rick Trachsel.
He is survived by: his wife Debbie Knapp of Keokuk; his daughters, Ashley Knapp-Brandenberger (Travis) of Keokuk and Lexie Shipley (Cole) of Keokuk; his grandchildren, Everly, Sutton Knapp-Brandenberger and Maeve Shipley; his cousins, Terry Knapp and Beth Young; his stepsisters, Loraine and Linda; Howie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be used for food and supplies for students in need at Canton R-V School District in Canton, Missouri.
