Mary Helen Symmonds Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Helen Symmonds of Keokuk, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 17, 2025 at the age of 94. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Mary Helen Symmonds to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Earl Gilpin and Lola Morrisey Gilpin; her siblings, Barbara, Clarence "June" Coovert, Earl "Jack" Gilpin (Audrey) and Donald "Donnie" Gilpin (Frances "Frankie"); and also Norine Jobe.
She is survived by: her husband Ray Gene "Red" Symmonds of Hamilton; her sons, John Symmonds (Nancy) of Keokuk, Ronald "Butch" Symmonds (Janet) of Keokuk, Jerry Symmonds of Keokuk and Robert Symmonds (Bob) of Keokuk; her great great grandchildren, Kelly Symmonds, Kyndall of Ft. Madison, Nevaeh and Amari Okra; her nephew Jack Gilpin (Bonnie); her daughters-in-law, Lori Bloom and Charlene Symmonds; her friend Evelyn Feil; and also, Brean Small (Andrew), Brooklyn, Samantha of Colorado, Brandon Symmonds (Lexie), Jaime Bair (Jeff), Jeffery Ryan, Jackson, Julianna, Jaidyn "Little Mary", Christopher Symmonds of Ottumwa, John Michael Symmonds (Cailyn Spiker), Janson "Lil Red" Symmonds and Jennifer Symmonds of Arkansas. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and their spouses, twelve great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 27th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Printy Funeral Home (917 Blondeau St, Keokuk, IA 52632-4921). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 28th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, May 28th 2025 at the Oakland Cemetery (1802 Carroll St, Keokuk, IA 52632).
Memorials may be directed to Little Red Basket in care of the Keokuk Police Department or the Montrose Health Center Activity Fund.
