It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Norma Florilla Steffensmeier of Keokuk, Iowa, who passed away on September 3, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Louis and Lillie Flora Davis Vermeesch; her former husband Dexter Cooper; her spouse Dale Stephen Steffensmeier; and her daughter Lisa.
She is survived by: her children, Geraldine "Jeri" Arnold of Keokuk, Linda Murphy (Dave Jennings) of St. Louis, Dexter Murphy of Navarre, FL and Mark Murphy (Sheila) of Washington, UT; her stepchildren, Jeff Steffensmeier (Kim), Steve Steffensmeier, Angie Fitzpatrick (Marty) and Michelle Dershem; her brother Perry Vermeesch of Keokuk; and her sisters-in-law, Annie Vermeesch of Keokuk and Madonna Plenge (Mike) of Kahoka. She is also survived by close friend she considered a daughter; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Indian School or Boy's Town.
